Sir William Petty. Drawing: John Smith; John ClostermanSir William Petty (1623 -1687) was one of the first members of the Royal Society and an active defender of the faith. He helped to found the science of statistics and the modern study of economics. He practiced medicine successfully and served many years as a public official. He wrote many papers showing evidence of God’s design in nature.
